Sankranti Celebrations @ Uranus

The Students of Seeds Uranus celebrated the festival of Sankranti on 9th January, 2018. Children showcased the rituals and traditions followed in our state through various activities. The 3 days of festival which is celebrated during this period was beautifully depicted by our Little Uranians.

Our children of PPII Rubies introduced the 1st day of festival i.e., Bhogi, through a dance performance and showcased how Bhogi is celebrated by people where they begin their day by lighting a bonfire and offer prayers to Fire god discarding the old things and welcoming new things and ideas for prosperity. The students of PPII Quartz introduced the 2nd day of festival i.e, Makar Sankranti wherein through an act they showed that the 2nd day is dedicated to the Sun God. PPI Corals introduced the 3rd day of the festival i.e, Kanuma wherein the cattle is worshipped which is the sign for prosperity and people wear new clothes as part of the celebration. Children also showed how the procession of colourfully decorated bulls in the streets with nadaswaram music is carried out during Kanuma festival.
